Westminster has plunged into a lockdown following reports of a "suspicious package". Police were alerted at about 7.30am on Thursday, with members of the public in College Green being evacuated shortly afterwards.

A cordon was put in place, as a bomb disposal squad was deployed to the scene. The experts operated a remote-controlled bomb disposal vehicle at the scene.
