A UK snow forecast shows  snow hitting various parts of the country for over 60 hours later this month. Weather maps from WXCHARTS, aided by Metdesk data, show snow arriving at midnight on December 17.

Later that day, maps show a wintry downpour covering parts of Western Scotland, stretching down to Northwest England. In the early hours of December 18, maps show snow hitting much of Northern England, including Lancashire and Yorkshire. Central Wales and parts of Devon could also see snow, the forecast suggests.

By 6am on the same morning, the snowy conditions move north to the south of Scotland.

On December 19, WXCHARTS' forecast predicts the snow will relent with small areas of white in southern Scotland and in North Yorkshire by 18:00 on December 19.

The Met Office's forecast differs from WXCHARTS. The agency's forecast for December 10 - December 19 predicts mainily settled weather.

However, heavy rain or showers are expected, with the wettest conditions overall in the west of the UK.

The Met Office also highlights the possibility of snow.

They say: "Snow will probably be confined to high ground in the north. Periods of strong wind are possible, especially around coasts and if any deep areas of low pressure form in the vicinity of the UK.

"Temperatures will likely be close to average or slightly above."

As for December 20 - January 3, the Met Office predicts changeable conditions with heavy rain at times, accomapnied by hill snow in the north.

The agency concludes: "Periods of strong wind are also possible, especially around coasts. Some drier, more settled spells are possible, but how long these last is very uncertain. Temperatures will likely be close to average or slightly above overall."
