Travel companies in the UK and beyond this year have entered administration and after eight years in business, another firm has joined that list, resulting in the cancellation of all of its holiday packages.

SkiYodl LD, a Norwich-based company launched in March 2018, and sold ski trips across several European destinations. This included everything from self-catered ski chalets, apartments, and hotels, to ski hire and airport transfers.

The mobile-led travel platform had a big focus on the French Alps, offering deals on resorts such as Méribel, Tignes, Avoriaz and Val Thorens, to name a few. The company was previously known for its claim to be "the largest online marketplace of hand-picked stays and experiences in the mountains."

On LinkedIn, the firm described itself as a "collective of ski industry professionals driven to create a customer-centric booking experience with skiing at its core."

In 2024, it was ranked 44th in the Startups 100 index of that year, an annual ranking of the most innovative new businesses in the UK.

However, having now entered voluntary liquidation, with Richard Cacho from RCM Advisory Limited appointed liquidator, customers have been warned to be aware of their rights.

ABTA, the UK’s largest travel association, representing travel agents, tour operators and the wider travel industry, made a statement regarding the company’s closure.

They revealed that currently, they do not believe there were ‘any current customer bookings for package holidays at the time of liquidation.’

ABTA has urged anyone who thinks they may be affected to get in touch by emailing claimsrequest@abta.co.uk with their booking details.

The travel association also issued guidance for customers who booked accommodation only, even though those bookings are not covered by ABTA protection.

It said: "Customers that paid by credit or debit card and had accommodation-only bookings will need to contact their card issuer for assistance with obtaining a refund."

Anyone who paid by another method, such as bank transfer, has been advised to submit a claim to the appointed liquidator, RCM Advisory Limited.

The reason behind Ski Yodel Ltd being wound up has not yet been disclosed. The winding-up order was announced on July 22.
