Princess Anne is a favourite of royal fans and it looks like she has someone destined to take over her role when the time comes.

Princess Charlotte has been called a "Princess Anne in the making". Entertainment and royal correspondent India McTaggar said during a recent episode of The Telegraph's Royal T podcast that in public, "he does have quite a shy presence," but reports suggest that "apparently behind the scenes he's not as shy". The newspaper's associate editor and executive editor, Camilla Tominey, said Prince George is "a bit like his parents" - Prince William and Princess Catherine - as he "seems publicly quite introverted because Charlotte seems to be the boss. The boss."
She added: "I mean, maybe, are we being unfair with that? She does seem to be in control of those brothers." Deputy royal editor Victoria Ward said: "She does keep them in check, doesn't she?" Tominey said: "Very much Princess Anne in the making, right?" In 2025, expert Ainhoa Barcelona wrote for HELLO! magazine reported that Charlotte "sparked similarities" with Anne on Christmas Day that year while speaking with well-wishers.

As she did a selfie, a member of the public said: "That is so cool. Oh, look at her, she's a Princess Anne in the making, without a doubt."
Charlotte could be styled Princess Royal, as Anne is today, when William, the Prince of Wales, becomes King.
The title is traditionally given to the eldest daughter of the sovereign, but this would only be the case if Princess Anne had passed away at that point.
It is also not automatically handed down, so William, when he is the monarch, may, for some reason, not name his eldest daughter as Princess Royal.
According to InStyle magazine, Charlotte is being mentored by Anne.
It cited a source telling Woman’s Day: "They're talking all the time about everything and anything, women’s football, sailing, horses, ballet, fashion, manners… Essentially, she's fool-proofing Charlotte into becoming the perfect princess and standby queen."
