Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have been warned by a PR expert that skipping their cousin’s wedding could “fuel more speculation” about family divisions. The two sisters, who are daughters of the disgraced Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, were believed to have originally been invited to Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling’s wedding on June 6.

It was thought they were going to attend the family occasion along with other members of the Royal Family. However, over the last few days, it has been claimed that the sisters will not be at the event. This comes after Thames Valley Police confirmed that their investigation into Andrew, which started after he was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in February, will include all different types of misconduct, including alleged sexual misconduct.

This has put Andrew back in the headlines, which means his daughters Beatrice and Eugenie will also generate plenty of attention when they make appearances.

This is believed to be something they want to avoid, especially on their cousin Peter’s wedding day.

While this may therefore be a good decision, especially for the rest of the Royal Family and the wedding celebrations, a brand and culture expert has said that it may actually fuel speculation about how well Beatrice and Eugenie now get on with their royal relatives.

Nick Ede exclusively told the Daily Express: “Attending Peter Phillips’ wedding would be a delicate balancing act for Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie because every public appearance they make is now viewed through the lens of the wider Royal Family drama.”

He continued: “On a personal level, of course, they should be there.

“Peter is their cousin, and the royals have always tried to present themselves as a close-knit family during important milestones like weddings. Not attending could actually fuel even more speculation about divisions within the family.

“From a PR perspective, though, the palace would want the focus to remain entirely on the celebration and not shift towards renewed conversations about Andrew or family tensions.”

“That’s the challenge whenever the York sisters appear at major royal events, now media attention can quickly become about who they’re linked to rather than the event itself.”
