‘Prince Harry should return as a full-time working royal to help King' says ex-butler

With the Royal Family noticeably thin on the ground for representatives at royal engagements, a former royal butler believes Prince Harry should return as a senior working royal, despite the Prince “stepping down” from royal duties in 2020.

Grant Harrold, who worked for King Charles and Queen Camilla for seven years believes the public “couldn’t be unhappy” if Harry wants to make a comeback as he would be doing it “for his father”.

Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, Mr Harrold said: “I don’t see any reason why Harry couldn’t return as a full working royal. He’s fifth in line to the throne.”

He added: “God forbid, if something happened that wiped out William's family, it is Harry and Meghan. That's what people forget, they are the next step at this moment in time. On that front, he is a significant member of the family, it will be a long time before that changes.”

The former butler to King Charles and Queen Camilla also expressed his sympathy with “almost retired” royals continuing with public engagements.

Mr Harrold said: “I've noticed the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester have suddenly reappeared. These are royals in their 70s, who you'd have thought would be slowing down and almost retired, but it seems to be the opposite. We're seeing more of them and it's almost like they're having to bring back royals that should be taking it easy, and they suddenly have to come back into the fold.”

Prince Richard, the Duke of Gloucester is 31^st in line to the throne, and despite his distant family ties he is still working tirelessly for the Monarchy.
