Which supermarket is the best in the UK? That answer changes depending on who you ask and how they rate a supermarket. Some will choose their favourite based on the quality of the products, while others will choose their top one based on how cheap their weekly shop is. Meanwhile, some will base it on the actual experience of shopping in their local store, from the availability of stock, to staff friendliness, to the width of the aisles.

So, we want to find out which supermarket is actually Britain's favourite. And we are asking you. Which supermarket do you think is the UK's best? The country has a plethora of supermarkets to choose from, including British chains as well as international players that have significantly grown across the country in recent decades. In our poll below, we have listed the ten largest supermarkets in the UK, and we want you to pick your favourite.

The largest supermarket in the UK, based on the number of stores, is Tesco. This is followed by Sainsbury's, then Asda and Aldi.

Most recently, Lidl overtook Morrisons to become the fifth-largest supermarket in the UK. All of this could change over the next few years, however, as many supermarket chains have big expansion plans.

Marks and Spencer, for example, has pinpointed 500 locations where it wants to open new stores as it plans a rapid expansion of its M&S Food offering.

Meanwhile, Lidl has also chosen hundreds of locations where it wants to open, with many new stores having already opened their doors in 2026. Aldi is also expanding, with the aim of opening a slew of new stores across Britain.

The next few months are set to be busy for the UK's supermarkets. Each has announced what's new on the shelves for summer, with several of them jumping on the picky bits trend set by M&S.

The likes of Tesco, Sainsbury's, Co-op and Iceland, for example, have released their highly anticipated BBQ food ranges. Summer food and drink arrived in UK supermarkets just in time for the recent heatwave, as Brits fired up their BBQs to dine outside as temperatures soared into the 30s in parts of the country.

While there are fears over price increases due to the war in Iran, many supermarkets are still managing to keep costs low for Brits this summer, many of them offering bundle deals on summer favourites over the next few months.
