A cruise shop worker has been arrested after he was accused of raping a British holidaymaker. The MSC Fantasia, as it has been named, docked at Palma in Majorca, after it had set sail from Naples in Italy.
A Kenyan man was apprehended on Friday morning after a female passenger alleged she had been raped at sea. The man arrested, who has not been named, is 37 and has been described locally as an entertainer on the cruise liner.
It is believed the suspect was retained in a cabin until the ship docked in Palma. He was released on bail yesterday following a court appearance. It was not immediately clear today if he is allowed to leave Majorca or has had to surrender his passport.
Investigators are now examining his mobile phone pending an ongoing investigation.
