Andrew Lownie's biography of the former Duke of York was published months before his ousting from the royal fold over the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor could face fresh humiliation after the author of a tell-all biography revealed he is planning to write a follow-up. Andrew Lownie published Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York last August, just months before its subject was evicted from his Windsor home, had his royal titles removed and was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

The author and historian has since announced an updated version of the book, which also tracked Andrew's ex-wife Sarah Ferguson's ascent and descent in the public eye, with an additional 40-page chapter focused on the recent developments. Writing in the i newspaper this month, Mr Lownie confirmed he was also "working on a follow-up book".

The original rigorously researched biography shed light on Andrew's relationship with paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein, his mysterious finances and spats with other Royal Family members including Prince Harry.

While Mr Lownie didn't expand on what the follow-up book would contain, he did admit that "dozens of people ... including former staff, school friends, protection officers, colleagues and diplomats" came forward after the initial text was published with "new stories about the couple's behaviour".

Andrew has kept a low profile in the months since his arrest on his 66th birthday in February, but he returned to headlines in May as it emerged that detectives would consider allegations of sexual misconduct in their inquiry into his potential misconduct.

Andrew was interviewed under caution in February before being released under investigation, with searches carried out at his former homes in Windsor and Norfolk. The ex-prince denies any wrongdoing.

Officers are currently assessing a claim by a woman that she was sent by Epstein to Royal Lodge for sex with Andrew in 2010, before being given a tour of Buckingham Palace.

They are also reportedly looking into an allegation that he behaved inappropriately towards a woman at Royal Ascot in 2002.
