This is the moment the alleged Saudi perpetrator of the Christmas market attack in Magdeburg was arrested after eleven people were killed and at least 60 injured.

Video footage of the moment the suspect was arrested appears to show armed police crowding around a dark car, reportedly a BMW, and forcing a man to exit slowly.

The driver of the car was then arrested following the horrific incident which took place at 7:04pm today in the German city of Magdeburg, according to unidentified government officials in the state of Saxony-Anhalt who spoke to the dpa news agency.

Reuters news agency has also reported that an explosive device has been found in the vehicle, according to local police.

The man who has been arrested is a 50-year-old originally from Saudi Arabia. According to BBC reports, he is said to have arrived in Germany in 2006 and worked as a doctor.
