UK weather: Met Office forecasts rising summer temperatures

The Met Office has issued a serious amber weather warning for extreme heat from Saturday in 31 UK areas - and has warned the hot weather could bring power cuts. The weather experts have warned that ‘extreme heat’ will affect 31 UK areas from midnight on Saturday to 9pm, bringing the risk of power cuts, water outages and loss of internet. The heat will bring a risk of 'failure' which will lead to a "probable loss of power" and other essential services, such as water, electricity, gas or mobile phone services, the Met Office warned.

It said: "Hot and humid weather will continue over parts of east and southeast England."
