King Charles had an intimate sit-down lunch with daughter-in-law Princess Kate as it is believed she wanted to confide in the King before courageously revealing her cancer diagnosis to the world.
The King, 75, travelled from London to Windsor Castle on March 21 to meet Kate and was reportedly left “feeling very emotional”.
The following day, Princess Kate released a positive yet heartfelt video addressing the public to explain she was undergoing “preventative chemotherapy” and that the news came as a “huge shock”.
The Daily Mail reports a source said they both would have had a lot to discuss during the Windsor Castle lunch, as the King only started his cancer treatment a few weeks earlier, following his prostate surgery.
They said: “The King left his lunch feeling very emotional. They are very close and he thinks of Catherine as his daughter. There is no doubt there is a lot they can share and use each other for support during their own deeply personal cancer battles.”

Both the Princess of Wales and King Charles stayed at the private hospital, The London Clinic, for their respective surgeries earlier this year. Charles was being treated for an enlarged prostate while Kate had just undergone major abdominal surgery.
Insiders told the Sunday Times that King Charles was seen “toddling” from his hospital bed to see Kate along the corridor to check on her.
The statement added that Charles had been in the "closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks”.

A royal source said: "The King has been keeping in touch with the Princess of Wales from the moment she was admitted to hospital in January and throughout her current cancer treatment.
"He is utterly determined to put on a show of unity for his family and reassure the public and wider world that the monarchy is stable, despite the current tumultuous period it is experiencing. The King is very much hoping he will be able to make the Easter church service but will of make a final decision on the day."
