Donald Trump has launched another furious outburst against Iran, warning the ceasefire with Tehran is over as World War 3 fears explode once again. The US President flew into a rage while speaking to the media at the NATO summit in Ankara.

As NATO Secretary General sat just feet awat from him, Mr Trump declared "I think it's over" when asked about the ceasefire between the US and Iran. He added: "I don't want to deal with them anymore, they're scum. As far as I'm concerned, it's over. It's just a waste of time dealing with them, they're liars." The US President insisted negotiators from both sides "can talk" but are "wasting their time".

Oil prices soar after Trump declares ceasefire 'over'

Oil markets responded swiftly after Trump announced that the ceasefire was “over,” fueling concerns about renewed instability in the region.

Shortly before his remarks, crude oil was trading at just under $76 (£57) per barrel.

By 9.45 am, BST, prices had climbed above $78 (£58) per barrel and continued to trend upward as traders reacted to the prospect of escalating conflict and potential disruptions to global energy supplies.

Iran's Foreign Ministry calls US attacks 'gross violation' of ceasefire

Iran's foreign ministry has strongly condemned the US strikes on the country, saying they leave parts of the two countries' interim peace deal "ineffective".

In a statement shared by Iranian state media, the ministry said the US military targeted "several monitoring and surveillance centres" along its southern coast.

"These aggressive attacks are also a gross violation of Article 1 of the memorandum of understanding on the end of the war, which states the cessation of military operations," the statement said.

EU High Representative criticises Iran on the attack

European Union High Representative Kaja Kallas called Iran'a attack on Bahrain and Kuwait 'unacceptable'.

In a post on X, she wrote: "The exchanges of fire between the US and Iran further complicate already fraught talks to end the war. Iran’s attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait are unacceptable.

"Under the memorandum, Tehran committed to reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Its recent attacks on ships near the Strait violate that commitment and threaten to disrupt the resumption of energy supplies. Freedom of navigation must be unimpeded.

"Next Monday, EU Foreign Ministers will meet with their Gulf counterparts to discuss how we can work together to support the implementation of the agreement and preserve freedom of navigation in the Strait as well as the Red Sea."

What happened overnight?

The United States and Iran exchanged fresh military strikes overnight, marking a sharp escalation in tensions.

The US military launched a series of what it described as “powerful” attacks on targets in southern Iran around 10pm, claiming the operation was in retaliation for an attack on three tankers in the Strait of Hormuz the previous day.

In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps vowed a “crushing” retaliation and announced that it had struck 85 US military sites in Bahrain and Kuwait, while denouncing the American attacks as a violation of the ceasefire.

NATO chief supports Trump on Iran

Trump calls Iran's leaders a 'cancer' and 'evil'

Donald Trump described the Iranian regime as "evil people" and calls the administration "crazy", repeating the US position that Tehran can't be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon.
