B&Q has recalled a popular table fan over fears it could pose a fire and electric shock risk, with customers urged to stop using the appliance immediately.

B&Q has issued an urgent recall for one of its table fans over fears it could pose a fire and electric shock risk, with customers told to stop using the product immediately.

The recall affects the White 9 Inch Table Fan (30W), which was sold in B&Q stores between March and July 2026. The home improvement retailer has identified a potential fault that could cause an internal electrical component to overheat.

In a product safety notice, B&Q said: "A potential safety issue has been identified in relation to the White 9 Inch Table Fan sold between March 2026 and July 2026. In some cases, an electrical component may overheat leading to a fire or electric shock risk.

"If you think you have this product, please stop using it immediately and return to your nearest B&Q store for a refund."

The recall comes as many households continue relying on fans to stay cool during the summer months, making it especially important for customers to check whether they own the affected appliance.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has also issued a safety alert about the fan. According to the regulator, the product presents a risk of electric shock and fire because a fault within the oscillation mechanism can damage the internal wiring.

The OPSS said: "The product presents a risk of electric shock and fire as there is a fault within the oscillation mechanism that can damage internal wiring."

It added that the fan "does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016."

Customers who believe they have purchased the recalled fan are being advised not to use it again and to return it to their nearest B&Q store, where they will receive a refund.

Anyone unsure whether their fan is affected should check when it was purchased and compare it with the details included in the recall notice before continuing to use the appliance.

The retailer has not announced any other products as part of the recall, with the safety notice applying only to the White 9 Inch Table Fan sold during the affected period.
