Anyone over the age of 60 is urged to spend £10 in Morrisons stores to cash in on an exclusive scheme.

The supermarket chain launched a new deal for older customers earlier this year which allows them to enjoy an afternoon meal for just £10 from 12pm onwards across its stores. Morrisons’ ‘Club 60’ gives eligible shoppers access to cheap meal deals to help their pensions go further and it’s a deal that is particularly appealing over the cold winter months when household budgets are often under pressure due to expensive energy costs.

Customers over the age of 60 who visit one of Morrisons 344 cafes after 12pm can enjoy a warning afternoon meal for a mere £10.

The meal deal includes a small portion of fish and chips, served with bread and butter, followed by a slice of cake and a hot drink, and is available daily from 12 noon.

Eligible customers simply need to let a Morrisons Cafe staff member know they are over the age of 60 when purchasing their meal to get the bargain offer, giving shoppers savings of up to £3.25.

There is also the option to enjoy a small breakfast at any time of the day for £6, allowing Club 60 members to save up to £2.50. The small breakfast includes a sausage, bacon, fried egg, hash brown, Heinz Baked Beanz, toast and butter, and any refillable hot drink.

Morrisons says its cafes serve as local hubs in the community and with almost half (49%) of older people admitting to cutting back on meeting friends due to financial pressures, its new Club 60 aims to offer support and provide a social community space with hearty food at affordable prices.

Chris Strong, Senior Café Trader at Morrisons, said: “We know many of our older customers are feeling the financial squeeze – ‘Club 60’ is our way of offering a welcoming space and a good meal at a great price to our customers.

“It’s a small step that we hope will help to make a difference to the pockets of our customers.”
