'Abhorrent' pro-Palestine protesters blasted as they vandalise Cenotaph

Pro-Gaza activists have been slammed by the new Labour Government after two individuals vandalised the Cenotaph this lunchtime.

Radical group Youth Demand, closely associated with Just Stop Oil and other extremist activist groups, took to the Whitehall obelisk this afternoon to demand that the UK “stop arming Israel”.

The two girls laid a Palestinian flag on the steps of the Cenotaph, before spraying ‘150,000 killed’ in red paint at the base.

They then set on the war memorial with signs reading “stop arming Israel” and “never again for anyone”.

In a tweet, the group said: “Never again means never again. Everything that the cenotaph stands for is contrary to the Labour government allowing companies to profit from genocide”.

The pair have since been arrested by the Metropolitan Police.

The Met said: “These two women were quickly arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and are in custody”.

“Everyone has the right to protest lawfully, but where that crosses into criminality we will take action.”

The vandal attack on the revered monument sparked immediate outrage, with Labour’s new veterans minister Al Carns blasting it as “abhorrent”.

Mr Carns, appointed last week to the top Ministry of Defence job, slammed: “The Cenotaph is special for all of us!”

“The act of vandalism is abhorrent. No matter what is happening in the world, the Cenotaph must be respected.

“It stands in memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms we enjoy today.”
