Safety Recall Issued for Thousands of Walking Pads Sold at Canadian Tire

Health Canada has issued a nationwide recall for thousands of electric walking pads sold at Canadian Tire due to an “electrical hazard.”

Any customer who has purchased the PowerG Walking Pad since January 2025 is advised to discontinue use of the recalled product and take it back to a Canadian Tire store for either a refund or in-store credit, the federal agency said in a recently published advisory.

“The affected product does not meet the requirements of the relevant standard for this product category, which poses an electrical hazard,” the notice said.

The model number for all recalled walking pads is 499-4052, and the UPC number is 8 46325 03115 8.

The affected products were manufactured in China and sold by Canadian Tire from January 2025 to July 2026, the advisory said. A total of 7,000 units were sold during that period.

No incidents or injuries had been reported in Canada as of Aug. 10.

More than 670 of the recalled brushes were sold as part of two grill sets from December 2017 to March 2026. The Cuisinart 10-piece grill tools set with UPC 890084002799 and Cuisinart 20-piece grill set with UPC 817096012967 are both affected by the recall.

Customers are urged to immediately stop using the products, Health Canada said.

“Small metal wire bristles, from certain Cuisinart-branded metal wire bristle grill brushes, can detach from the brushes and stick to the grill or food, posing an ingestion hazard and risk of serious internal injuries that could require surgery,” the agency said in a Sept. 1 notice.

There have been no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada as of Aug. 26, the advisory said, noting that Crate & Barrel Canada can be contacted for a refund.
