Police are responding to a fire involving a bus in Calgary’s northeast Saddle Ridge neighbourhood.

The fire occurred Thursday on the 800 block of Saddletowne Circle, near the neighbourhood’s fire station.

The Calgary Fire Department confirmed at least one person was declared dead at the scene of the fire, but have not confirmed the total number of deaths or injuries resulting from the crash.

At an unrelated news conference Thursday afternoon, Calgary Transit director Sharon Fleming confirmed the collision involved two buses.

Access to Saddletowne Circle is closed for “a significant amount of time,” police said, advising people to avoid the area.

More to come.
