B.C. Conservative Party Leader John Rustad has announced his resignation but will remain on as an MLA.
The decision comes after he was announced removed as leader by the party's board Wednesday.
Rustad told reporters Thursday he had talked to his wife and others close to him, who encouraged him to stay on, but he felt to do so would become a civil war in his party.
"I was not prepared to go forward and have that civil war."
More to come.
