Prince Harry and wife Meghan “have to be trusted” before they make their way back to the UK as a unit according to one royal expert.

The Duke of Sussex is expected to meet with father King Charles in London next week after he touches down in the UK to celebrate 10 years of his passion project the Invictus Games.

But one royal commentator says that before his wife Meghan, 42, and their children Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two, join them on a trip it’s crucial that trust is rebuilt, reports MailOnline.

Reports say that the Prince will meet with his father on Wednesday, May 8 after attending the Invictus Games celebration at St Paul's Cathedral which finishes at the same time as a Buckingham Palace garden party.

Richard Fitzwilliams, an expert on the royal family, thinks Meghan and the couple’s children could join him on a future visit but that Harry will have to rebuild the family's trust after attacking key members of the Firm - including in is autobiography Spare and on the pair’s Oprah interview.

Mr Fitzwilliams said about the potential reunion between father and son that he’s “not surprised,” reports MailOnline.

He said: “But what has happened, of course, a relatively short period ago, we had (controversial memoir) Spare at the beginning of last year and attacks on the royal family in the interviews he gave to promote it. A lot of it was very, very unwise.

“But the Sussexes have just beefed up their communications team with two new appointments and I think that is significant, because I think that they are paying more attention now to their PR, something they wouldn't (have considered before).”

He added: “'The difficulty they now have is that they have to be trusted if they are going to build, or rebuild bridges, because I don't think members of the royal family will trust the Sussexes.”

Spare caused controversy with its account of an alleged physical assault by Prince William. Prince Harry also accused his brother of calling Meghan “rude” and “abrasive”.

Following the Invictus ceremony, Meghan and Harry have been invited to Nigeria by the country's chief of defence staff.

The pair are expected to meet service members and their families as well as participating in traditional cultural activities.
